Following on from our recent article about dashboard warning lights we thought we would explain more about our Vehicle Diagnostic Services.

Modern cars have a wide range of sensors fitted to them – each sensor monitors and records specific data about your vehicle.

If something goes wrong the cars on board computer systems can decide the best action to take – display a warning light, shut down the engine to prevent damage etc. The sensor’s don’t just cover the engine either – they also monitor and record a wide range of systems on your car.

All this technology is great but the problem is that without the correct equipment you cannot get the car to tell you accurately what the problem is (or was).

Here at Shaw Autopoint we have computer diagnostic equipment that plugs into your car’s computer systems and can download the sensor data – from this data we can tell exactly what the problem is – which sensor triggered the fault, what the sensor recorded etc. With this information we can then go straight to the problem without spending hours trying to work out what is wrong.

The equipment is very similar to what main dealers use to diagnose faults – but we are cheaper and can usually get you booked in a lot faster.
